Meteor Research 1

The majority of this research is more for when I continue this project on a larger scale, as I have previously mentioned I want to turn this into a series and have had to downsize certain aspects of my idea to make it feasible for my FMP. There are segments amongst this research which will benefit me into understanding what I need to produce and what the audience would expect from this genre.

Not to sound cruel hearted but what interested me most about the meteor hitting Russia was the fact not many people seemed to care, or at least not many people in my local area. I went on to thinking how would people be forced to survive in that situation? What if it had hit on a large scale all around the world? How different the minds of those who didn’t seem interested would change once they were involved?  This was the main aspect which led me to develop my drama.

I wanted to learn more about what actually happens when a meteor enters the earth’s atmosphere then when it hits, from this news coverage, I mainly took out four aspects which I need to take into consideration as the audience will aspect to seem authentic. The sudden change in lighting, the shattering of windows, walls shaking and cell phones not working. Taking all these into consideration, I need to think out what is actually feasible for me.

In my script I covered the shaking which the character Tom will show by his sudden fall down the stairs, I also thought to make it more convincing having certain household item to shake such as pictures, chairs etc. It will be difficult to achieve but I will be practising soon. Another aspect I have covered is the cell phone losing connection with both the phone breaking up & the game console internet connection to disconnect.  The only aspects which I think will be difficult to achieve is the sudden change of lighting, I may be able to do something whilst in the editing process but at this moment in time I don’t see it being achievable. One aspect which I won’t be able to achieve is the shattering of the window’s, it’s too difficult considering I will be working on locations and also it is a major health and safety risk having to smash a window.
